CleanMyMac X is the flagship product of MacPaw, a software company Oleksandr Kosovan bootstrapped from Kyiv, Ukraine in 2008. It grew to $50M+ ARR with 250+ employees by becoming the definitive Mac cleanup and optimization utility — scanning for junk files, uninstalling apps completely (removing all associated preference files), identifying and removing malware, managing startup items, and providing a real-time memory and CPU monitor in the menu bar. Over 30 million Macs have run CleanMyMac. MacPaw's product portfolio (CleanMyMac, Setapp subscription platform, ClearVPN, Gemini duplicate finder) demonstrates a bootstrap-to-product-suite strategy: use the cash flow from one successful product to fund the next.
