Quaderno is the tax compliance and invoice automation platform Christian Pele bootstrapped from Las Palmas, Spain in 2013. It automatically calculates the correct VAT, GST, and sales tax rate for every digital product sale based on the buyer's location, generates a compliant invoice, and produces the tax reports needed for filing in each jurisdiction — eliminating the compliance burden that makes selling digital products globally terrifying for small businesses. The platform grew to $3M+ ARR with 15 employees by solving a genuinely painful problem: a freelancer in Spain selling an ebook to a customer in Germany owes German VAT at the German rate, must issue a German-format invoice, and must report and remit that VAT to German authorities — all from a €15 sale. Quaderno integrates directly with Stripe, Gumroad, Shopify, and WooCommerce to intercept every sale, calculate the correct tax, generate the invoice automatically, and add the amounts to the periodic tax report. The product essentially makes tax compliance invisible.
