Sonix is the automated audio and video transcription platform Alex Soto bootstrapped from San Francisco in 2017. It grew to $3M+ ARR with 20+ employees by offering the fastest automated transcription service (transcribe a 60-minute interview in 5 minutes) at a price point well below human transcription services ($10/hour vs. $1-2/minute for humans). The platform supports 40+ languages and produces output accurate enough that the editing time is a fraction of re-transcribing from scratch. Sonix's in-browser editor is the product's key differentiator: every transcribed word is time-linked to the audio, so when you click a word in the transcript, the audio jumps to that exact moment and vice versa. Correcting errors is as fast as editing text — click, retype the correct word, move on. The team integrations (invite collaborators, leave comments on specific words, export in multiple formats) made it a professional tool for journalists, researchers, podcast producers, and legal teams who regularly transcribe hours of audio.
