Uploadcare is the file upload and processing infrastructure platform Igor Debatur bootstrapped from Novosibirsk, Russia (now operating as a US company) in 2011. It provides a JavaScript file upload widget (File Uploader) and a backend API that handles file storage (in their CDN), image transformations (crop, resize, compress), video processing, virus scanning, and CDN delivery — everything a web application needs to handle user-uploaded files without building file processing infrastructure from scratch. The company grew to $3M+ ARR with 50+ enterprise customers by targeting development teams who needed robust file uploading in days rather than months. Uploadcare's widget handles multi-file uploads, drag-and-drop, URL imports (upload directly from a URL), and integrations with cloud storage services (Dropbox, Google Drive, Instagram photos) — all with a consistent UI that drops into any React, Vue, or vanilla JS application with five lines of code. The HIPAA and SOC 2 compliance certifications opened healthcare and enterprise customers who needed documented security standards.
